WomenSpace Sponsors Benefit
In an effort to build the Reward Fund for the victims of the Flats Murder incident, a benefit concert/dance was sponsored by WomenSpace and a variety of other concerned groups. Over 200 women from Cleveland, Akron and surrounding areas gathered at the Civic to listen to music, dance and socialize. Live entertainment was plentiful. Becky, on acoustic guitar, returned to the stage after a two-year absence and performed a variety of folk traditional selections. D.J. Adler offered some popular tunes from her Here and Now album, as well as some original works. Luna with Rainsong, Mudslide and Peggy Cella performed for the first time in the Cleveland area presenting a number of upbeat tunes and closed with Wild Women Don't Get The Blues. The final live performance was provided by the Womens Blues Band. Swamp and Priscilla offered renditions of Bette Midler, Phoebe Snow and Billy Holliday and several popular jazz/blues and torch songs
Lorna R. served as M.C. and kept the show moving. Thanks goes out to Monica and Chris who handled the bar for a large thirsty crowd. The event was coordinated by Romaine Reeves and collected $1,700.00 bringing the Reward Fund total to approximately $10,000.
